- Abstract:
Teachers in training at the Higher Teacher Training Colleges (Superior Normal Schools -SNS) undergo a training process that, upon completion, will enable them to become preschool and elementary school teachers. In the exercise of their functions, they are confronted with emotional phenomena that, on occasions, can lead them to not knowing how to recognize, confront and manage them, which can lead to mental health problems or suffer from burnout and stress, among other factors associated with population management. Recent studies indicate that the existence of emotional education programs that contribute to the consolidation of emotional competencies for their training may improve the personal and professional development of teachers. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of an emotional education program in comparison with the relational leadership school program on the emotional competencies of teachers in training at teacher training colleges in Antioquia.

Intervention Overview
- Intervention:
The objective of this study is to determine the effect of an emotional education program in comparison with the relational leadership school program on emotional competencies for teachers in training in teacher training schools in Antioquia. The intervention method is classified as a digital and computerized emotional education program that tributes to emotional competencies, created by Professor Miguel Ángel Albor Licona at the Universidad Católica Luis Amigó, Medellín-Colombia. The experimental group will use the program created within the framework of the research and the active control group will use the Relational Leadership School program. Both will have 12 interventions in an equal number of weeks, for a time of 2 hours each. The program is considered progressive, which means that in each session the participants will acquire emotional competencies of greater complexity. This is the essential element of the hypothesized effectiveness of the intervention. The active control group will use the Relational Leadership School program, seeking that the participants' approach be one of recognition of emotional education in the formative processes. The study includes two measurements: a pretest (at the beginning of the interventions) and a posttest (at the end of the interventions - 3 months). The benefits of the study include the acquisition of emotional competencies by the teachers in training, which will allow them to know, regulate and manage their emotional phenomena. This trial has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Universidad Católica Luis Amigó and by the Higher Teacher Training Colleges of the Department of Antioquia.
- Theory of Change:
The following activity: Emotional education program leads to: teacher trainees improving their emotional competencies, which: increases the knowledge, regulation and management of emotional phenomena in their daily lives, resulting in: Higher levels of emotional education.
The objective of this study is to determine the effect of an emotional education program in comparison with the relational leadership school program on the emotional competencies of teachers in training at teacher training colleges in Antioquia.

Method Details
- Details of Evaluation Approach:
The study presented is framed as a randomized controlled clinical trial to 100 participants with the condition of being teachers in training of one of the 23 SNS of the Department of Antioquia- Colombia in an age range between 18 and 21 years old and without any medical, psychological or psychiatric diagnosis. The intervention consists of an emotional education program carried out during 12 sessions for an equal number of weeks, for a time of 2 hours each. The active control group will train with the Relational Leadership School program for an identical duration in emotional education. The study includes two measurements: a pretest (at the beginning of the intervention) and a posttest (at the end of the intervention - 3 months). To describe the sociodemographic characteristics and primary outcome of emotional competencies and secondary outcome of emotional education of the populations of the Experimental Group and the Control Group and of the pretest and posttest interventions to intervene in relation to the teachers in training of SNS of Antioquia. To establish the performance in the SEC-Q and SECTRS scales of emotional competences and emotional education in the teachers in training of the Superior Normal Schools before and after the program in emotional education. To establish the performance on the SEC-Q and SECTRS scales of emotional competencies and emotional education in a sample of teachers before and after the Relational Leadership school. To compare the performance of the two groups of teachers submitted to the emotional education and Relational Leadership programs in the emotional competencies and emotional education scales before and after the corresponding interventions.
- Outcomes (Endpoints):
Primary outcome measure: The intervention of the emotional education program has a greater effect on the SEC-Q and SECTRS scales than the intervention of the relational leadership school program in teachers in training in teacher training colleges in Antioquia.
- Unit of Analysis:
- Teachers in training of the 23 SNS of the Department of Antioquia-Colombia.
- Hypotheses:
According to the research developments on emotional competencies in education, it is inferred that it can be a significant contribution for teachers in training in the SNS of Antioquia. It is deduced that if this hypothesis is true, emotional competencies are capable of generating significant processes from an emotional education program.
- Unit of Intervention or Assignment:
- Each teacher-in-training participant

- Two groups, each of 50 participants.
- Number of Individuals in Sample:
- 100
- Size of Treatment, Control, or Comparison Subsamples:
- 50 individuals in the experimental group under the emotional education program and 50 in the active control group in the relational school program, total 100.
